Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, the 2.5 million square foot addition enabled McCormick Place Convention Center to remain the largest exhibition facility in the United States.
The West Expansion added a half million square feet primarily dedicated to enlarge the facility exhibition space. However, a quarter million square feet were also dedicated to meeting rooms, banquet spaces, and ballrooms. A large dining space and specialty restaurant overlooking the grand lobby are well integrated into the design.
In August 2007, McCormick Place West became the largest new-construction building in the country to receive the coveted LEED® Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its environmentally-friendly design.
